THE MARKET · THEIR OWN PAGES, CHECKED JULY 2026
Cut to the Case vs Management Consulted
Black Belt is the aircraft carrier of consulting prep: $2,250 for 10 hours of 1:1 coaching with former MBB consultants, a 600-case library, unlimited drills, digital assessment prep, and a structured roadmap. If money is no constraint and you want a human on call, it is a serious product, and their assessment prep deserves credit.
But be honest about the math: that is roughly $225 an hour of coaching stapled to a case library you will never finish. Nobody does 600 cases. The curriculum layer of Black Belt is what I sell for $69. If you want human hours later, buy exactly the hours you need, from them or anyone.

THE WHOLE GAME, NOT ONE STAGE
Learn. Drill. Perform.
Prep only works as a loop: the course teaches the game, the gyms drill each skill in isolation, and the cases and simulations make you perform the whole thing under grading. Most of this market sells you one stage and calls it prep.
STAGE 01 · LEARN
Hear the wisdom
12 hours of video from a McKinsey interviewer: business from zero, consulting math, the Interview Dance, behavioral, office strategy.
STAGE 02 · DRILL
Isolate each skill
Math Gym, Chart Lab, Structure Studio, flashcards. One skill at a time, like touches on a training pitch.
STAGE 03 · PERFORM
Play full matches
Six interactive cases graded on an interviewer rubric, plus timed McKinsey, BCG + Bain exam and game simulations.
Like training for match day: study the game, drill the touches, then play full matches until it is automatic. Skip a stage and the gap shows up in the interview, not before.
WHERE MANAGEMENT CONSULTED LEAVES YOU
Credit where due: Black Belt runs the full loop. It just bills $2,250 for it.

CUT TO THE CASE
$2,250
MANAGEMENT CONSULTED
Thirty-two copies of Cut to the Case for one Black Belt. Coaching hours are worth paying for at the right moment; the curriculum should never cost $2,250.
When Management Consulted is the better pick
- · Your budget genuinely allows bundled 1:1 hours and you know you'll use all ten.
- · You want a human-managed roadmap and scheduled accountability.
- · A school stipend or employer is paying.
Fair questions.
Aren't 10 hours of MBB coaching worth $2,250 alone?
If you use them at the right stage, coaching hours are the most valuable thing money buys in this process. The mistake is buying them bundled with a curriculum before you know your weak spots. Learn the system for $69, find the two or three things a human must fix, then buy exactly those hours.
Isn't 600 cases just more value than six?
A library is not a plan. Cases repeat their mechanics quickly; what compounds is performing full cases under grading and fixing what the rubric flags. That is six cases done properly, not six hundred owned.
What about their cheaper self-study option?
They sell a self-study pass separately; per their own pages as of July 2026 it expires after a year. Same story as the rest of the market: renting access to content that a $69 lifetime purchase covers here.
Decide with 30 days of cover, not 24 hours.
